The second edition of the Hamz Cup will reach its climax on Friday, the 19th, with an exciting final clash between Kafumbe One and Arrows FC, as football fans anticipate a thrilling conclusion to the fast-growing grassroots tournament.

The match day will also feature a third place playoff between Pentagon FC and Kafumbe Two, rounding off a competitive tournament that has showcased emerging football talent from across the country.

Speaking to the press ahead of the finals, Mr. Hakim Kasirye, the Hamz Cup coordinator, said the tournament was designed to promote grassroots football, nurture young talent, and strengthen community engagement through sport.

“This is the second edition of the Hamz Cup, and it has attracted teams from across Uganda. The competition started with 40 teams in the group stages, and the quality of football has continued to improve,” Kasirye said.

Fans will gain access to the finals at UGX 10,000 for ordinary tickets and UGX 20,000 for VIP tickets.

The tournament features substantial prize money, with the champions set to receive UGX 50 million, while the runners-up will take UGX 25 million. The third placed team will earn UGX 15 million, and the fourth placed side will receive UGX 10 million.

Kasirye further revealed that Dr. Hamis Kiggundu contributed UGX 100 million towards prize money, reaffirming his support for youth development and grassroots football in Uganda.

Organisers say the Hamz Cup is steadily establishing itself as an important platform for identifying football talent while fostering unity and positive engagement within communities through sport.
