The Ruparelia Foundation was spotted in a  community empowerment agenda in Kamwokya with a sanitation promotion program.

In an event, held recently, it is visible that the Ruparelia family is passionate about improving the livelihoods of people living in  vulnerable communities in Uganda. This effort was originally championed by the late Rajiv Ruparelia, whose passion for social impact continues to inspire the Foundation’s outreach activities.

‎speaking during the handover of basics household items donated by the Foundation, the director of the foundation Sheena Ruparelia noted that the latest intervention focuses on sustainable sanitation, innovation, and community participation.

‎She went on and highlighted the construction of environmentally friendly toilets made using plastic bottles collected by residents a method that promotes recycling while offering a long-term solution to poor waste disposal in ghetto areas.

‎”Kamwokya faces longstanding challenges linked to sanitation and waste management. By using plastic waste to construct these facilities, we are empowering the community to take part in building solutions,” Sheena stated.

‎In addition to infrastructure improvements, the Foundation donated food packages, sanitary products, toys, shoes, books, and other essentials to children and families preparing for Christmas.

‎Contributions from friends, corporate partners, and family supporters amounted to UGX 60 million, part of which also supported the renovation of washrooms in various community centres.

‎Mujuzi Patrick, founder of the Ghetto Research Lab, applauded the partnership and emphasized the significance of combining charity with innovation.

‎He noted that the Lab continues to train youths in plastic recycling, briquette production, and other eco-friendly income-generating activities.

‎He added that unemployment and poor sanitation remain key issues in areas like Kamwokya, but collaborations like this are paving the way for sustainable community transformation to which the recipients are grateful
