A woman was just shot around the speaker’s home
A female motorist was shot and injured by a police officer near Speaker Anita Among’s residence after she was reportedly followed and questioned over her route shortly after leaving church.
The woman, driving a Toyota Harrier (UBQ 038A), had just left prayers at All Saints Cathedral when she turned onto Mackinnon Road towards the Speaker’s residence, a high-security area. Security personnel reportedly stopped and asked why she had taken that route.

Sources said she later drove on, prompting a brief pursuit before gunshots rang out.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala confirmed the shooting but said details remain limited.
It is true there was a shooting. She was driving a Toyota Harrier UBQ 038A. She was shot by a police officer. I don’t have all the details right now,” Ms Kawala said.
She added that the officer involved will be interrogated as investigations begin.
Police had not, by press time, disclosed the victim’s condition or whether the officer had been detained.
